MODELPARKER ASEL The film Red Shoes, released in 1948, portrays the dilemma of Peggy, a ballerina who is torn between her love and her career. Despite its tragic ending, the red shoes worn by the protagonist symbolize feminine ambition, which was once discouraged in women. In Andersen’s fairy tale, the heroine’s desire for the red shoes leads to the loss of her feet as punishment from the gods. This project aims to reinterpret the story with a modern, feminine perspective, celebrating the strength and grace of women as they pursue their dreams and navigate life’s challenges. The project seeks to evoke the image of a ballet dancer gracefully moving to her music, akin to the beauty and pain experienced by the toes of a ballerina, shining outside but persistently enduring inside.
